Lahaina Public Library
Received from Friends of the Library Hawai'i:
"The Lahaina Public Library was one of the hundreds of buildings lost in the August fires that tore through Lahaina, Maui. The library will be rebuilt. It may take years for the new library to be brought online but we look forward to assisting the library system return public library services to West Maui. In the meantime, the Maui Bookmobile will be visiting those communities.
Many of you have asked how you can assist the library. We are working with the library system as they look at different temporary options. We will let you know how you can assist once those plans are solidified. Help may be needed for collections, or for tech, or other special services.
There is still a lot of assistance needed for the people of Lahaina and we hope that the focus of current efforts continues to be for humanitarian aide.
The Maui Friends of the Library also lost one of their bookstores in the Outlets of Maui. If you would like to support the Maui Friends, please find more information on the MFOL website. "
